The City Food Lecture is a prestigious, invitation-only, annual event held at the Guildhall, attended by about 700 people in or associated with the international food industry, a mix of business leaders, academics and liverymen. The event is organised by the seven Livery Companies that have a close association with food - namely the Bakers, Butchers, Cooks, Farmers, Fishmongers, Fruiterers and Poulters - with the support of the City of London and a number of commercial sponsors.
DOMINIC BLAKEMORE, CHIEF EXECUTIVE, COMPASS GROUP
Inaugurated in February 2001, the City Food Lecture explores contemporary food issues. Every year a leading figure in the UK’s food industry is invited to give a lecture about what they consider to be most important in shaping the way food is produced, distributed, sold and consumed. Following the lecture, a panel of experts conduct a lively debate and Q&A session about the issues raised.
