167 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) is a unique regiment within the RLC and the Army Reserve. Based in Grantham, but recruited nationwide, 167 Regiment RLC provides sustainment support to the British Army, anywhere and in any environment. 167 Regiment RLC has opportunities for chefs, communications operators, supply specialists and logistics officers. Both new recruits and Regular to Reserve transfers are welcomed.
167 Regiment was formed in 1993 when five Corps (including the Army Catering Corps) were brought together to create the Royal Logistics Corps (RLC), the largest single capbadge in the British Army. It deploys from its base in Grantham, Lincolnshire to provide the Army support anywhere, in any environment - from supporting large-scale logistics exercises in Europe, to feeding medical and engineering personnel in South Sudan.
As the MOD has increasingly turned to civilian contractors for logistics, the Regiment includes the only specialist catering unit in the Army. It is manned by reservists who have a range of jobs in civilian life and varying levels of time commitment to the Army.
The Cooks have been officially affiliated to the Regiment since 2017 and we keep each other informed about our activities. The Master is regularly invited to Mess Dinners at 167’s HQ and we give prizes at the Army's annual Cookery Competition and Open Day (Exercise Army Sustainer). Soldiers from the Regiment are regular guests at our annual Prize Winners’ Lunch having won competitions at the Armed Forces’ Exercise Joint Caterer, an event we also sponsor.
